Prospect Dentistry

Dr Will King grew up in Adelaide and has been a general dentist for the past 14 years. He has owned his three-chair practice for seven years, a practice currently experiencing a growth phase. While the practice keeps him busy, he enjoys running and holidaying on Kangaroo Island with his young family where time permits.

 

Why choose Dentally?

"Oasis dental software was feeling like it had not evolved in the 14 years I had been using it. I made the change from a computer based accounting software to the cloud based Xero which had streamed lined workflows and had an intuitive interface. I watched some videos about Dentally and could see that it offered the same streamed lined workflows and intuitive interface that Xero offered."

What is your experience of moving to Dentally?

"It was relatively easy considering changing dental software is something you rarely do in a dental practice. All patient records, perio charts, notes, recalls and billing histories transferred correctly which was great but it has been annoying to re-enter every patient’s base chart but I believe this will improve for future transitions. Everything is slightly different to the old software and change can be difficult. The onsite training and prioritised phone support made the transition easier. Within a month it felt natural again."

What do you see as the key benefits of Dentally?

  • Online medical histories, online booking and a patient portal where patients can update their details, medical histories, approve treatment plans and pay bills
  • Because it is cloud based, Dentally is continually adding features, updating and evolving
  • Powerful patient sorting tools which allows emailing and texting of target specific groups of patients based on demographic, treatment history, unfinished treatment or lapsed recalls

What have been the key outcomes that you have seen within the practice as a direct result of using Dentally and the Elevate (Customer Success) Programme? 

  • We have saved a huge amount of practice staff time through automated recalls and online bookings. Staff time has also been saved by patients completing their medical histories online and updating their details in the portal.
  • We have also embraced the Concierge mode for patients to conveniently fill in their details in a paperless way in-practice, avoiding manual entering of patient details and excess paper.
  • This automation has allowed practice staff to focus on ‘higher value’ tasks such as the overall patient experience, care calls for patients and encouraging all-important Google Reviews!
  • We are now in a position whereby my practice experiences less than two appointments lost to FTAs per week, with cancellations only taking up 10% of our diary allowing us to focus on maximising practitioner productivity.
